WOOD LAND
This project intervenes in the rural(Chongqing) to help solve the problem of rural hollowing out.
Rural hollowing refers to the phenomenon that, with the rapid development of China, the young and middle-aged labour force in rural areas flows into cities in order to earn money, resulting in the unreasonable distribution of the rural population in age structure, the increase in the number of left-behind elderly, and the serious weakening of the rural main body. Rural hollowing has become a serious social problem in China.
I convert the story into the installation and space in order to let kids experience and anticipate the story because children are mesmerized by stories. However, they only receive stories through reading picture books or listening to adults and subsequently placing themselves into the stories in their imagination. I merged stories and children’s behaviors, making each installation a children’s story. Once a child enters the facility, he plays the main character to experience the twist and turn in that story.
